Engineer/Analyst Job Description:

Applied Research Associates, Inc (ARA), a 100% employee-owned company, is looking for the right person to join our team. Our office at Eglin AFB, FL is located along Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast.

For this position, ARA (Emerald Coast Division) needs a person that can perform software testing of 3D modeling & simulation applications, as well as performing analysis using these software applications. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be a software developer with a math, physics or engineering background, or an engineer/scientist with coding skills. Applicants should possess a strong math background, and a working knowledge software programming concepts using C++ in an object-oriented architecture as well as a working knowledge of Visual Studio. Applicants should also have good communication skills. This person should also be willing to take on a project management or team lead role. Proposal writing is critical to the work we do. This position will be required to participate in that process, so good writing skills are important.

We interface with our customers daily, so we are looking for someone with a positive attitude that is flexible, and capable of working in a team environment. Candidates should also be able to analyze a problem, and a derive a solution independently.

Engineer/Analyst Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or better in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, or related field.

  • 2-4 Years: Relevant Work Experience

  • US Citizen, eligible to receive and maintain DoD Security Clearance

Engineer/Analyst Required Skills

  • Knowledge of software constructs and programming concepts

  • Ability to engage people from multiple disciplines to develop solutions to unique technical problems.

  • Ability to both independently, and in a team environment

  • C++, object-oriented experience preferred.

  • Experience with software versioning such as GIT or experience with Agile work flows a plus.

  • Microsoft Office products.

Additional Consideration for:

  • Scripting languages such as Python and Lua

  • Working knowledge of Visual Studio, Cmake, and version control systems such as Git

  • Familiarity with graphing and data visualization software such as R, DPlot, Paraview.
