ARA’s Engineering Science Division is seeking experienced chemists in our Reactive Materials Group. This is a full-time position on-site with the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL), located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, NJ.
As a chemical hygiene specialist you will:
Manage the TSL Chemical Hygiene Program, to include support for all testing and operations involving chemicals and the Hazardous materials and Hazardous Waste programs.
Manage TSL’s Industrial Hygiene program.
Consult with laboratory personnel on chemical use, storage, and disposal.
Consult with laboratory personnel on appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) selection.
Manage TSL’s spill response program.
Chemical hygiene specialist requirements:
BS in Chemistry, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or similar chemistry-related field from an accredited college or university.
Substantial knowledge of toxicology and a minimum of 5 years’ specialized experience managing a facility Chemical Hygiene Program, preferably in a laboratory environment.
Working knowledge of health and safety regulations (TSL, OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
Chemical hygiene officer certification from a professional organization such as the National Registry of Certified Chemists.
Ability to perform inspections of a broad range of diverse facilities and operations.
Must be a US Citizen.
Requires Secret Security Clearance or higher and DHS Suitability, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
