Hackensack Meridian Health Audiologist - Part-time in Edison, New Jersey

This position is responsible for the evaluation of persons having hearing/balance disorders, for providing aural rehabilitation and other duties as assigned. In addition, knowledge in vestibular and electrophysiologic assessment is necessary. The incumbent also performs other professional duties and participates in department/facility initiatives based on needs and opportunity.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Audiologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  1. Evaluates patients according to department policies/procedures and follows standards of practice. Exhibits knowledge and understanding of patients' diagnoses. Integrates and synthesizes test results, behavioral observations, and information obtained from history to develop diagnostic impressions and make recommendations. Selects and interprets electrophysiologic tests: ABR, VENG, CDP, VEP, Rotary Chair, Otoacoustic Emissions, Electrocochleography, VEMP. Selects, administers and interprets tests of auditory function/processing. Administers appropriate tests and measurements accurately and efficiently based on script/orders. Selects and interprets behavioral diagnostic tests of auditory sensitivity using frequency-specific stimuli. Selects and interprets acoustic immitance tests and audiometric speech tests.

  2. Actively involved in patient/family participation in establishing goals, following standards of practice. Makes modifications as part of the treatment protocol. Validates and verifies fitting, orients patient and/or family, with personal amplification and listening systems, discusses communication strategies, and provides post-fitting counseling. Plans and implements aural habilitation/rehabilitation programs. Takes earmold impression and selects earmold, personal amplification, and/or assistive listening devices post evaluation.

  3. Documentation is in accordance with policies and procedures. Communicates changes in treatment plans and follows procedures to obtain approvals as indicated.

  4. Records charges based on services provided with supporting documentation. Follows department guideline for productivity.

  5. Utilizes equipment effectively to complete the evaluation process. Communicates any equipment issue to responsible personnel. Handles equipment with care leaving the test site in order for the next evaluation.

  6. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  7. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Master or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Audiology.

  2. Entry level considered based on staffing ratios

  3. Computer skills: word, excel, powerpoint

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  1. Audiology License.

  2. Certificate of Clinical Competence - Audiology.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  1. Hearing Aid Dispensary License.
