Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

The Mechanical Designer will be a part of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing department and assist by taking existing or conceptual designs of new or legacy products, creating SolidWorks models of the product, and overseeing the project through design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will have good mechanical aptitude, be detail-oriented, have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to quality, be proficient with SolidWorks, and be a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing to produce designs and images for project proposals.

  • Work directly with Engineering to create designs and SolidWorks models of projects.

  • Create bill of materials (BOM) and detailed drawings for machined parts, sheet metal, and assemblies.

  • Follow the BOM through purchasing, assisting and advising where applicable.

  • Provide hands-on support to the assembly technicians during the build and testing phase of the project.

  • Possibly travel domestically and internationally for the purpose of project installations.

  • Ensure company operating and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and customer delivery deadlines are met.

Essential Skills

  • College degree in an engineering-related field or an associate degree in drafting design.

  • Three to five years of drafting experience preferred.

  • Drafting and design skills with metal machining and fabrication. Experience with vacuum equipment is a plus.

  • Proficient computer skills, including SolidWorks, Windows, Word, and Excel.

  • Proficient with both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional design and drafting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and results.

  • Mechanical and technical skills and knowledge.

  • Able to identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Teamwork skills.

  • Able to follow directions yet work with limited supervision.

  • Ability and willingness to learn.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with vacuum equipment is a plus.

Work Environment

The person in this position will work inside; normal work hours are Monday through Friday and vary between 6:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.; additional hours may be required during the week or on weekends. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
