Position Summary
The department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Carmo Costa for a one-year, fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance & funding availability. The Costa Lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, with a strong emphasis on identifying novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates for neurodegenerative diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and conduct experiments related to the lab’s research objectives
Supervise and provide guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as lab staff and technicians
Analyze experimental data, including large and complex datasets
Prepare manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant writing
Present research findings at lab meetings, conferences, and other scientific forums

Required Degree
Doctorate -Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field
Minimum Requirements
Doctorate - Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with:
human stem cell cultures and organoid cultures
coding - basic level
rodents (preferably mice)
data presentation and statistical data analysis
large-data analysis (e.g. RNAseq)
cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (extraction of proteins, DNA and RNA from human and/or mouse cells/tissues, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, PCR, gene editing, cloning
confocal microscopy
