Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The proctor manages the administration of individual final exams, including checking students into the exam room, ensuring that students only have allowed materials with them, and giving general instructions on how to begin the exam. Once the exam has started, the proctor monitors the exam takers and answers questions as needed, communicating with the Registrars office to resolve any issues that may arise. At the end of the exam, the proctor collects any exam materials from the students. Proctors also may need to ensure that student accommodations are being met by maintaining a quiet and distraction-free environment. Time Commitment: The exam period typically lasts for 1.5 weeks at the end of each fall and spring semester, and 3 days for summer. We occasionally have availability for midterm exam proctoring during the semester, and make-up exam proctoring after the final exam period. During finals, there are two exam sessions per day in the morning and afternoon as well as variable length accommodated exams. Average shifts will be 3.5 to 4 hours including setup and completion, and you may work both sessions on a given day if you choose. Some shifts may be much longer or shorter depending on exam length, accommodations, etc. Total hours per week range from 4 - 30 hours. This is a seasonal position that will include available work at the end of every fall and spring semester, and occasionally summer, as well.

Specific Duties include:

  • Attending a Zoom training.
  • Checking student IDs.
  • Keeping track of exam start and end time.
  • Contacting relevant offices in the College of Law in the event of an issue (Registrars office, IT).
  • Distributing exam materials and supplies.
  • Monitoring exam takers.
  • Assisting exam takers during exams.
  • Ensuring that students exam accommodations are met.
Desired Qualifications

Must have general computer knowledge and the ability to stand, sit, or walk around a room for up to six hours.
