Michigan State University(MSU) Assistant Instructor-Fixed Term in East Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary

The primary focus of this position is to assist faculty with courses within the undergraduate physiology and/or neuroscience program. The successful applicants' duties could include in-class instruction of students (laboratory or classroom), conducting recitations sessions, assisting faculty in student evaluations and assessments, meeting with students outside of class and/or contributing to curriculum development; the exact responsibilities will depend on the course assignment. The position requires an individual with extensive knowledge of systems physiology and/ or neuroscience, demonstrated success as a student in biological sciences, neuroscience, and/or laboratory courses, and excellent communication skills. Experience in active learning classrooms is desired. It would be highly advantageous for the candidate to have previous experience assisting with undergraduate courses in physiology, neuroscience, or a related field. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, possess strong organizational skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty. This Assistant Instructor -- Fixed Term positions are funded for one semester only. Review of applications begin on 04/01/2024.

The Assistant Instructor -- Fixed Term position is a monthly payroll position at 50% (part-time). If offered this position, the candidate cannot work on two different payroll types at MSU such as working as a professional aide that is paid bi-weekly. The duties to be performed by this position requires regular in-person presence in East Lansing, MI and it is not remote-only compatible. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Physiology, Neuroscience, or related field is required and must be completed by the start date. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with learning management systems such as D2L, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom. Physiology and/or Neuroscience content knowledge. Experience working in a team.
