Position Summary:
In collaboration with pharmacy leadership, the director, pharmacy infrastructure & support operations shall be responsible for the planning, organizing, and has direct responsibility of all infrastructure systems, programs, automation devices, operational projects, plans, initiatives, databases, and associated aspects and activities of the pharmacy department. Also serves as the operational infrastructure manager across all pharmacies located on campus, home delivery & shared pharmacy operations (central fill & processing) along with shipping and receiving logistics, and managed outpatient pharmacy locations within affiliated community health centers and partner health systems.
Moreover, director is responsible for supporting system processes, operational projects & tasks, system build, implementation, project management and other critical activities that will promote safe, effective and efficient pharmacy services while maintaining and growing service lines. Ensures standardization and consistency of team member trainings, on-boarding, and ongoing structure of performance competency across the department. Supports programs that prepares team members for examination by licensure and registration.
Also serves as the primary point of contact and information relating to 340B and non-340B drug supply chain purchasing and procurement, distribution, and inventory management. This includes and is not limited to wholesaler integration with the departmental systems and processes, invoice reconciliation, contract price loading for applicable drugs with ongoing monitoring, and accounting unit location budgetary purchase compliance.
Assures all legal and regulatory requirements are satisfied for affiliates and satellites.
Translates organizational goals into departmental strategic and operational goals and objectives on an annual basis. Defines, develops and implements short- and long-term strategies and plans to meet organizational objectives within specified target date. The director shall use evidence-based processes to ensure the highest level of quality, safety and service. On an annual basis develops cost savings plans with leadership to minimize drug expense and maintains the best practice in supply chain while ensuring maximal quality and safety of drug therapy
Establishment of key performance indicators and implement strategies and/or processes to maintain and/or exceed set target of drivers of success
Labor productivity staffing metrics and targets for incorporation into work environment in collaboration with leadership
Reducing costs (through inventory control, efficient centralized fill strategies, metrics etc.)
Assists with the development of annual operating capital budgets to support strategic business goals and supports pharmacy operations to meet budget and other financial goals.
Assists with the analysis for new business opportunities relating to request for proposal/information assessment, sizing of revenue market, labor, and operational expenses (upfront and ongoing),
Management and acts as data base administrator for the pharmacy operating system, conducts RFI as needed with assessment, and recommendation of automation devices
Ensures on-board training and assessment of team competencies regarding proper use, training, management and efficacy related to automation devices and management of IT related issues
Creates and maintains database that supports patient management for Medication Adherence patients. Review enhancement requests and collaborate with front-line team to operationalize.
Ensures that pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet the mission, goals and standards of the organization.
EDUCATION:
B.S. in pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy required, PharmD preferred
Other advanced degree (M.S. , MBA, MHA etc.) preferred,
Process system or continuous quality improvement certification, e.g. IHI, Lean Six Sigma, preferred
EXPERIENCE:
At least ten years of progressive experience in ambulatory or outpatient pharmacy management required.
340B experience of at least 5 years with 340B ACE certification required
Academic medical center experience preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent leadership for change skills, ability to promote collaboration across multidisciplinary services, excellent interpersonal skills, strategic planning and ability to negotiate contracts, excellent organizational and communicative skills, emphasis on specific interest in human resource management, employee engagement and development.
Mastery level of MS Office programs, e.g. Excel, Access, etc.
Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, etc. data programs preferred
Willow Ambulatory certified preferred
