Ecolab Inc Senior Packaging Engineer in Eagan, Minnesota

The Senior Packaging Engineer operates within the Research and Development Packaging Engineering group. This group is responsible for designing, qualifying, and specifying packaging systems for disinfectants and cleaning products used in institutional and industrial environments. Packaging Engineers must be proactive team members working with product development scientists and engineers to develop packaging solutions for various product categories. What you will do: Identify and apply new and existing packaging technologies towards the development of innovative new products and the enhancement of existing products. Research and evaluate materials and components for the development of cost-effective, high-quality packaging solutions that provide high value to Ecolab customers. Provide strong technical leadership within a cross-functional team to drive the design and development of innovative new products or optimization of existing packages. Support and drive Pipeline/Development projects and strategies in addition to inline maintenance, quality resolution and cost savings projects. Design, coordinate, and complete performance and compatibility testing in support of packaging component changes Serve as a leader in Packaging R&D community by way of extending technical curiosity outside of known solutions, connecting technologies with opportunities to serve various business units. Lead and drive opportunities for improvements to improve time to market and increase efficiencies within Ecolab. Communicate cross-functionally within RD&E in addition to communicating with corporate functions such as Plant Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, and Procurement. Execute domestic and global packaging development projects by creating and following effective and efficient project timelines and related success criteria to realize on-time project completion dates. Collaborate with multifunctional core teams (R&D, Design, Marketing, Marketing Research, and Product Supply) to successfully identify, develop, and launch new products in an accelerated manner Lead evaluation of technical performance and stability of combined package and formula systems, collaborating closely with formulators and processing engineers throughout development Generate robust packaging component specifications, finished good product specifications, and bills of materials as part of technical validation process Stay in the forefront of packaging innovations and trends by sharing back with project teams and more broadly within the division so that new technologies can be leveraged in new products and new product packaging. Utilize expertise to contribute to the successful commercialization of new ideas driving consumer and corporate value. Utilize available external resources (patent literature, suppliers, etc.) to identify and recommend applicable new technologies Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical degree. 2+ years related experience in Packaging Engineering No immigration sponsorship available for this position Preferred Qualifications: 2+ year experience with Package Design, package specifications and package quality systems Working knowledge of packaging materials and packaging component production; blow molding, inje tion molding, corrugated, plastic films Possess strong working knowledge of UN/DOT, EPA, and FDA standards and requirements.
