Assistant Tax Manager - Indirect Tax Role Summary: Do you want to work in a fast pace ever changing industry? As an Assistant Tax Manager in our Indirect Tax team, you will assist in ensuring Thomson Reuters businesses are compliant in all aspects of indirect tax including US Sales and Use Tax, Canadian Goods and Services Tax and Harmonized Sales Tax. You will also work with our team to employ various automation tools, such as Alteryx and Power BI, to automate processes. This is a high visibility opportunity for you which requires someone to operate in fast paced environment and balance multiple priority projects at the same time. About the role: In this opportunity as Assistant Tax Manager - Indirect Tax, you will: Manage the Indirect Tax group in the following areas: Manage the review and analysis of sales and use tax (SUT), annual reports and business license matters. Provide the TR businesses with indirect tax advice and support for both US and Canada. Coordinateor assist with the configuration and troubleshooting related to SUT systems and system implementations for TR businesses. Coordinate the set-up of sales tax product codes. Research products to insure proper tax classifications and tax treatment in business billing systems. Conduct sales tax research and planning related to indirect tax issues. Manage the accuracy and timely updates of the sales tax matrices including legacy systems. Support or prepare documentation for external audits. Assist in meetings with external auditors. Responsible for or assist in tax training related to indirect taxes. Assist business units and leaders by advising them of proper sales tax procedures related to their business. Perform periodic product reviews to meet company and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Address US Sales Tax Support emails for TR businesses. Ensure that TR businesses have sufficient processes and records to support exempt sales. Review potential credits and incentives that may be available in US jurisdictions for job expansion, relocation, job training, environmental or other capital spending. Manage MN capital equipment sales tax refunds process. Monitor daily updates of any potential new statutes/regulations/case law. Assist with due diligence and acquisition integrations. Manage the preparation of Voluntary Disclosure Agreements. Responsible for conductingperiodic communication with, and direct assistance to, the Head of US Indirect Tax. Participate with other managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. About you: You're a fit for the role of Assistant Tax Manager - Indirect Tax, if your background includes: Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 4 years experience. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Big 4 experience or Master of Business Taxation preferred. Technically proficient in accounting and office software. Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills at all levels of management. Experience supervising or preparing US sales tax returns. Ability to working efficiently and continue to find ways to improve processes. Technical/Professional Skill & Competencies: Experience using Microsoft Office, SAP, Alteryx and OneSource software products. Knowledge and experience to determine the proper sales tax treatment of various business and legal transactions (including intercompany transactions). Ability to review all aspects of compliance, indirect tax legislation/regulations/court decisions/rulings affecting indirect tax and provide guidance to the business units. Conduct indirect tax research to assist in the implementation and interpretation of indirect tax laws as they affect the company. Institute for Professionals in Taxation Sales Tax CMI designation preferred. LI-DS4 What's in it For You?
