Actalent Material Planner in Durham, North Carolina

The role works closely with all Manufacturing, Planning, Inventory and Purchasing team members to ensure materials are available for production on time and in the most cost-effective manner. The role includes identifying and defining key business process flow improvements through data analysis and problem solving. The Material Planner ensures all parts in the ERP are planned appropriately by continuously evaluating and maintaining inventory part and MRP planning parameters to achieve desired outcomes. This role owns the material flow through the plant to ensure efficient and timely delivery of all materials. The Material Planner is also a key owner of vendor-managed inventory and the analysis of floor stock and expensed parts. The individual will document requirements, coordinate functional evaluations, and focus on continuous improvement of all manufacturing business processes as they pertain to MRP and materials movement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure materials are available for production on time and in the most cost-effective manner.

  • Identify and define key business process flow improvements through data analysis and problem solving.

  • Evaluate and maintain inventory part and MRP planning parameters to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Own the material flow through the plant to ensure efficient and timely delivery of all materials.

  • Manage vendor-managed inventory and analyze floor stock and expensed parts.

  • Document requirements, coordinate functional evaluations, and focus on continuous improvement of manufacturing business processes related to MRP and materials movement.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 0-2 years experience in a manufacturing MRP environment or relevant internship experience

  • Ability to read and analyze data from ERP

  • Ability to make strategic business decisions based on schedule and demand

  • Experience in a manufacturing supply chain environment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experienced user in advanced ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar (IFS is a plus)

  • Demonstrated experience managing MRP-driven materials planning within a discrete, vertically integrated manufacturing environment

  • Master level in Excel-based data analysis

  • KPI and metrics reporting

  • Inter-site order management

  • Inter-departmental communication and collaboration

Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite position. The Material Planner will work in a cubicle environment among a team of 4 planners. There will be cross-functional interaction with schedulers, engineering, purchasing, and inventory teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
