Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies. Our in-vitro Diagnostic Assay manufacturing site in Dundee has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Scientist.

We are looking for a suitable candidate who will be directly involved in the manufacture and testing of a range of products.

Responsibilities

  • Production of a variety of key intermediates,rare reagents, assay subcomponents, and final products at varying scale toschedule;

  • Testing of materials using chromatography,spectrometry, and a broad variety of immunoassay techniques;

  • Purification of enzymes and antibody conjugates;

  • Control of critical materials throughsegregation;

  • Following, completing, and adhering to approvedprocedures;

  • Review, amendment, and update of controlleddocumentation;

  • Engaging with and positively contributing toCommercial and Operational Excellence initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • be educated toat least HND/Degree level in science subjects, preferably in a biologicalscience or chemistry, or have relevant working experience;

  • be experiencedin working in a laboratory/manufacturing environment and/or have good practicalskills;

  • have anawareness of basic statistical techniques used in data analysis;

  • have IT skillsincluding use of MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and/or GMP would be an advantage however comprehensivetraining will be given.

  • have personal qualities such as creativity,problem-solving, analytical skills, team-working, good organisational,interpersonal and communication skills and possess a strong willingness to learn.
