Google Network Engineer, Messaging in Dublin, Ireland

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.

  • Experience with TCP/IP-based routing, and network management protocols.

  • Experience in Messaging Network Engineering and Operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Signaling System 7.

  • Experience working on VoIP.

In this role, you will apply your extensive industry knowledge of messaging systems and protocols to design, implement, and maintain a robust and scalable network. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex signaling issues, managing routing changes, and ensuring the reliability of our 24/7 messaging infrastructure. Working alongside a collaborative team of engineers and our vendor NOC, you will contribute to critical services including traffic monitoring, fraud/abuse detection, number management, and interoperability, directly supporting Google's mission to connect billions of users.

Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

  • Maintain Google's messaging infrastructure to ensure high operational efficiency and reliability.

  • Review, troubleshoot, and resolve messaging platform issues within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Objectives (SLOs).

  • Collaborate with Google product teams across Product Areas (PAs) to scope and launch new services and features.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex messaging platform issues.

  • Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to provision, test, and implement messaging platform changes, including new integrations and feature enhancements involving diverse routing protocols.
