Downingtown Area School District Maintenance- Plumber in Downingtown, Pennsylvania

*Position: *Maintenance - Plumber (Job ID 5269)  *Location: *Administration Building *Pay Rate: *Starting at $30.37 *Schedule: *40 hours per week, year-round *Benefit Eligible: *Yes *Effective Date: *2/10/2025

Job Summary:  To perform installation, maintenance, alterations and repair of plumbing systems and related equipment.

Qualifications:  To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.  The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school diploma, certificate, or equivalent, plus two years' experience in a position-related field.
  • Maintain certifications and licenses necessary for the completion of job-related skill.
  • Ability to install, modify, trouble-shoot, repair and perform maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, schematics, and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, proper methods for using position-assigned tools and equipment, and procedures for working in areas with asbestos containing materials.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, lift and/or exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, lift and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to perform tasks at different height levels and in hard to reach places (e.g., ladders, scaffolding, crawl spaces, attics).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements

Duties & Responsibilities:  (Abbreviated - Please review the attached job descriptions for more details on this specific opportunity)

  • Repairs or replaces damaged plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, electronic flush valves, faucets, drinking fountains, traps, valves, adjustment of pumps, regulators and associated piping.
  • Assists with documenting the cost of repairs by keeping records of time and materials to be charged to each job using the work order system.
  • Maintains competency and currency with developments in the trade through self-directed professional reading, attending professional development courses, and attending training courses.
  • Coaches and leads other District staff in the execution of boiler plant and plumbing tasks. Ensures safety equipment is provided and used, and that safety procedures are followed.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Facilities Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
