ABOUT YOU

ARCO/Murray is currently seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead our internal mechanical and plumbing design team. This leadership role will be responsible for supporting project pursuits, identifying requirements, and advancing the team's efforts with the development of complex building system designs in support of a wide range of design/build projects.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Oversee, guide, mentor, and provide technical leadership to the team

  • Manage the design process for mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of building types from controlled agriculture, waste to value, industrial, manufacturing, to large scale commercial

  • Guide and review the design from concept design all the way to turnover and operation

  • Coordinate with the entire ARCO team comprising of developers, project managers, designers, and subcontractors to help optimize the design to meet specific project needs, budget, and schedule

  • Interface and develop trusting relationships with both internal and external clients

  • Participate in project pursuit presentations and interviews to show the depth of ARCO's experience and technical knowledge

  • Conduct staff development activities including work planning, budget development, and scheduling

  • Be part of the process to develop the vision and direction for the future growth of the group

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline

  • 7+ years of related mechanical design experience in support of construction projects

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and client relationships while maintaining a high-level of customer service and responsiveness

  • Professional Engineer (PE) is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior leadership or project management experience preferred

  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, Load calculation/energy modeling software (Trace, HAP, IES), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Professional Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Prior design/build experience preferred

  • Previous business budgeting and/or business planning experience preferred
