Cleveland Clinic Assistant Chief CRNA- Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio

Administers anesthetic care for the purpose of facilitating diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves in a lead capacity by assisting the APRN manager with scheduling and supervision of the CRNAs on the unit

  • Assists with Press Ganey strategies to increase employee engagement.

  • Oversees timekeeping and attendance.

  • Oversees Quality and Compliance issues at their specific sites.

  • Assists with the scheduling of CRNA's with regard to meeting approval and reimbursement.

  • Participates with the annual evaluation process.

  • Communicates operational needs to the management team.

  • Ensures adherence of the assigned facility to JCOH, ODH, Quality, and Compliance standards.

  • Assists with clinical education and career development of assigned staff.

  • Actively assists with on-boarding new Anesthetists.

  • Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.

  • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.

  • Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia.

  • Recognizes alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, takes appropriate action and notifies the responsible physician as indicated.

  • Attends at least 75% of Regional Chief/Assistant Chief meetings either by teleconference or in person.

  • Attends key leadership meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.

  • Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.

  • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.

  • Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited CRNA program.

Certifications :

  • Must have a current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing.

  • Must have current certification and continued professional certification (CPC) with the National Board of Certification Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and State Board of Nursing endorsement.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Academy of Pediatrics certifications may be required based upon work setting.

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and the ability to lift and transport patients.

  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

  • Ability to work under extreme pressure.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
