STV Incorporated Project Accountant in Douglassville, Pennsylvania

Reference #: JR209 Project Accountant - Sr. Project Accountant, Project (Levels 1 through 3): Responsible for accounting, from project setup and revision: review and adjustment of time and expenses charges; revenue recognition; billing; WIP analysis and reconciliation; Collections/AR reconciliation; consultant Pay-when-Paid activities and AP reconciliation; and project closeout. Ensures projects are set up in accordance with contractual terms and conditions and promotes cost accumulation for invoicing (per Cost Accounting Standard 401). Ensures billing controls are set up on the project as appropriate. Prepares Client invoices in BST monthly in accordance with company billing policy guidelines. Reviews and processes project related vendor and subconsultant invoices. Reviews and monitors project cost/performance on a weekly basis. Reviews and adjusts as necessary, project time and expense charges, before billing the Client. Facilitates appropriate revenue recognition including recommending interim write-offs or markup adjustments, and closeout windfalls or write-offs. Analyzes work in process (WIP) prior to billing each month to minimize the potential for over-recognition of revenue. Reconciles WIP on a monthly basis to ensure that revenues and billings are in alignment, particularly on projects where there is more than one invoice group. Advises corporate accounting regarding application of cash receipts to appropriate project and invoice. Reviews Accounts Receivable at least monthly to ensure timely disposition of client disallowances that result in short payments. Investigates causes of short payments and requests reinstatement of original invoice so it may be revised accordingly. Ensures all such reinstated invoices are re-run in the same fiscal month so there are no unallocated credits at month end. Ensures timely payment to subconsultants. Reviews and resolves all short payment and overpayment conditions timely (within the fiscal month). Contributes to Exception Report comments and problem resolution on a weekly/monthly basis Reviews project activity for potential closeout, balances project for closing and submits closeout request to corporate accounting.
