FULLTIME LINEMAN - Electric Department/Douglas Utilities

NECESSARY JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a high school diploma of GED that is issued by a school or organization recognized as accredited by the council for higher education accreditation (CHEA) or US Department of Education(USDOE); applicants must be able to show proof of having completed Groundsman training as offered by ECG or equivalent training group; sufficient experience to thoroughly understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) year; must have or be readily able to obtain a valid state of Georgia Commercial Drivers License; possession or ability to readily obtain a personal telephone for emergency after hours calls and the ability to respond and arrive on scene within twenty minutes; must pass a drug screen and physical examination. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: assists with installations, repair and maintenance of two and three phase conductors, installs, maintains and repairs single phase conductors; constructs and maintains overhead electrical lines, repairs sagging wires and trims or removes tree limbs from electrical system rights of way and overhead lines; installs and maintains underground electrical cables, pipes and transformers; installs transformers and switches to provide residential and commercial electrical services including temporary services; installs and maintains low-voltage electric systems; responds to trouble calls related to power outages, accidents, fires and weather conditions; remains on call to reconnect electrical services as assigned; maintains assigned vehicle and equipment; connects new electrical services for residential and business customers, cuts off services as directed; operates a line truck, bucket truck, trencher and wire-pulling rig; performs other related duties as assigned.
