    Location: 650 Dudley Street, Dorchester

    Pay Range: $78,000 to $81,000 per year

    The Kroc Human Resources Manager is responsible for but not limited to employee relations, including conflict resolution, maintaining employee payroll records, performance appraisal process, and training & development. Must be able to work nights and weekends on occasion.

    Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • Certification in payroll a plus

    Work Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of Human Resources experience

  • Experience with Payroll required.

  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience with directly handling employee relations matters including conflict resolution.

  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Employee Relations

  • Investigate all employee complaints – keep detailed notes and documents and review action plan with Kroc Administrator and Divisional HR Director before implementation.

  • Discuss difficult or complex complaints or issues with the Kroc Administrator and Divisional HR Director before implementing a solution.

  • All involuntary terminations must be discussed and reviewed with the Divisional HR Director before action is taken.

  • Represents The Salvation Army as liaison with staff regarding employee relations concerns and issues. Involvement includes both formal and informal counseling, conflict resolution, coaching and, when necessary, structured interventions and/or disciplinary action.

    Payroll

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll for Kroc.

  • Review exception log to be sure that exceptions have been entered into ADP by the supervisor.

  • Review all payroll records before submission to DHQ. Look for anomalies (over time, hrs. over/under approved, excessive unpaid days, etc.).

  • Research all issues/discrepancies, and process with support from DHQ payroll.

  • Transmit ADP file to DHQ payroll bi-weekly no later than 10:00am on Mondays.

  • Distribute checks and paystubs on a bi-weekly basis. Encourage employees to enroll in direct deposit.

  • Comply with the regulatory standards and policies and procedures of payroll.

    Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Interacts and consult with Kroc Officers and supervisory personnel in overseeing the coordination and implementation of recruitment procedures.

  • Conducts new employee orientations to ensure employees gain understanding of The Salvation Army and the Kroc Center. Ensure that the new employee understands the benefits (DHQ HR will send packets directly to Kroc within 1 week of the start date) and policies. The orientation schedule will include a time during the day and a time during the evening once a month.

    General Responsibilities

  • Work with the Divisional HR Director to get items on the Personnel Council agenda.

  • Send appropriate personnel documents to the Divisional Headquarters HR Director for long-term storage. Maintain copies of all documents at the Kroc Center in a locked cabinet.

  • Status Changes – exemption changes, salary increases/decreases, FT to PT and PT to FT changes must be discussed with DHQ HR and put through the approval process prior to notifying the employee.

  • Keep Kroc Work Rules up to date with the assistance of the Kroc Administrator and Divisional HR Director

  • Submit all workers’ compensation claims to Chesterfield in a timely manner.

  • Attend staff meetings and Kroc Staff Leadership meetings as required.

  • Directs, coordinates, and maintains The Salvation Army’s Performance Appraisal System. This includes training, documentation, review and analysis, and annual reporting of all employee reviews. Coordinates and oversees the annual processing of all employee Merit Increases for the Kroc Center.

  • Reply to all employment verification requests with start/end dates and salary only. All unemployment requests must be handled at DHQ.

  • Chair of the Staff Enrichment Committee. Work with designated employees from each department to establish staff-related events.

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends on occasion.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
