Job Description
We are seeking an experienced superintendent to join a dynamic team and lead architectural construction projects across Michigan. The role involves overseeing planning, direction, and coordination for commercial and light industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong construction management experience, leadership skills, and a commitment to high-quality, timely project completion.
Responsibilities
Review construction documents and understand the scope of work.
Read and follow plans, material lists, and guidelines, applying necessary timelines to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
Manage subcontractor work to ensure quality and observe construction methods.
Supervise, mentor, and coordinate activities of trade employees, subcontractors, and project teams by effectively managing resources.
Accurately interpret and enforce architectural plans, specifications, and shop drawings to align with project goals and standards.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal members, subcontractors, and client representatives to foster a collaborative work environment.
Inform the project manager of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
Supervise trades crew and prioritize work.
Conduct regular tailgate safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
Submit hourly employee timesheets into payroll by the deadline and ensure hours are assigned properly.
Communicate project status to all parties, including project manager, customer, employee, and subcontractors.
Coordinate manpower needs.
Attend face-to-face meetings with clients, project progress meetings, and internal departmental meetings.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
5 years of construction supervision experience, preferably in commercial architectural or design/build.
Familiarity with various building methods and the ability to manage a project from inception to completion.
Experience working on projects ranging from $5 million to $10 million.
Construction scheduling experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in construction management or related field (preferred).
Experience using Microsoft Project.
Experience working on light industrial, medical, educational, or design-build projects.
Work Environment
This position requires 100% travel throughout Michigan, working an average of 45 hours per week across 5 days. Projects are located in Midland, Alpena, Sault St. Marie, Metro Detroit, and Grand Rapids. The role includes a per diem, company vehicle, and gas card. All accommodations and meals are covered through the per diem, with amounts varying by project location.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
