Huntington National Bank Senior Internal Security Analyst in Detroit, Michigan

Summary:

The Internal Security Operations Senior Analyst will play a critical role in Cybersecurity’s Internal Security program, designed to protect and defend against the loss of Huntington’s most critical data and the misuse and/or abuse of Huntington’s Corporate systems and information. This high-trust position involves triaging various alerts related to intellectual property protection and the security of Huntington’s most critical assets. The Senior Analyst, as a subject matter expert, will also test and evaluate new processes to improve visibility into potential gaps in the current operating environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:• Collaborate with the team to enhance existing technical models for data theft identification.• Identify and address gaps and weaknesses in current and future alerting platforms, including User Behavior Analytics (UBA).• Continuously review and adjust risk scoring models to maintain focus on significant security events.• Define and share clear metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the data protection program’s success at the Executive Level.• Partner with Cyber Security and Internal Security Investigators to prioritize the development and continuous improvement of new and existing models.• Prepare and disseminate cases, briefs, and investigative reports to Executives and partners in Legal and HR.• Engage with external peers and partners to stay informed on the latest developments and trends in data protection and internal security.• Communicate security concepts related to network, application, and systems to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree• Minimum 3 years of work experience in a field related to Cybersecurity, data protection, Insider Threat, Counterintelligence, or a similar role preferred

Expert Business Competencies:• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including the ability to perform complex data analysis, create detailed reports, and utilize advanced functions and formulas in Excel.• Excellent communication skills (writing reports for management/senior management, presenting to small groups/forums, etc.).• Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.• Advanced analytical problem-solving skills.• Experience in cross-team or system data collection, correlation, and analysis.• Demonstrated ability to manage long-term projects and personnel development while balancing competing requirements, identifying complementary opportunities, and swiftly pivoting to address immediate crises, incorporating lessons learned, and resuming long-term activities.Leadership:• Ability to independently identify and document programmatic or technological issues.• Ability to independently make recommendations for process improvement.• Ability to mentor, train, and serve as a professional example to entry-level analysts.

Preferred Qualifications:• Proven reliability and strong decision-making skills in high-trust, fast-paced environments.• Intermediate programming skills (reading/interpreting scripts, writing basic scripts) in languages such as Python, PowerShell, Java, JavaScript, SQL, or equivalent.• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in report writing and presentations.• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.• Experience in data collection, correlation, and analysis across teams or systems.• Strong analytical skills to identify and respond to complex security issues, with the ability to determine when to escalate significant security events.• Self-motivated and capable of independent work within a geographically and culturally diverse team.• Experience with User Behavioral Analytics tools and unsupervised machine learning programs.• Proficiency in scripting, customization, and light application development within SIEMs (e.g., Splunk).• Experience in Digital Forensics and investigations.• Advanced degree, continuing education, or certifications (e.g., CISSP, BS degree in CS or a related field) are a plus but not required.• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Network+, A+, Server+, ITIL Fundamentals, Security+, Cisco’s CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft MCP, or advanced Microsoft certifications.• Experience with big data or collaboration with data scientists.• Experience in conducting or leading investigations.• Proficiency in data triage of anomalous events collected by User Activity Monitoring (UAM) or similar tools, with the ability to recommend new rules or policies to optimize existing tools or policies.• Experience as a counterintelligence investigator or analyst with data analytics tools and databases, including formal training from FLETC, DCITA, JCITA, DoD, other US Federal Government, or Intelligence Community CI analysis programs.
