Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent who can manage trades and perform multiple roles including superintendent, foreman, and project manager. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day operations on construction sites, focusing on hands-on management, and ensure that all activities are carried out efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations on construction sites with a hands-on approach.
Study blueprints to determine dimensions of structures and assign worker tasks.
Ensure safety precautions are followed and inspect work performed by subcontractors.
Prepare, strategize, and supervise all construction-related activities in conjunction with the project team.
Maintain open and professional dialogue with the project manager to ensure smooth project flow.
Focus on cost, man hours, and scheduling of self-performed activities to ensure efficiency.
Coordinate scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
Address issues affecting schedule and costs to minimize impact on the bottom line and project timeline.
Essential Skills
3+ years of field supervision experience.
5+ years of construction experience.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Experience in supervising trades and managing subcontractors.
High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Lean principles.
Self-perform background and experience managing trades.
Experience working with small businesses or small subcontractors.
Experience working with truckers or yard maintenance staff.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
Work Environment
The role involves working 50-60 hours per week, with a company vehicle provided. The projects are around the Metro Detroit area and may be up to an hour away. The position may require picking up materials from suppliers outside of Detroit. A valid and unrestricted driver's license is required. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs. The job involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, and pulling, with occasional sitting and screen time. The work may expose the candidate to extreme conditions (hot or cold) and may require periods of travel
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
