Aerotek Trailer Shop Manager in Des Moines, Iowa

Shift :

  • Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5pm

Salary :

  • Open depending on experience, starting at 60K minimum

Job Description:

  • As a Trailer Shop Manager you’ll be on the front line of our business seeing all sorts of trailer repairs with a specific market of refrigerated carriers. Plan, direct, motivate and manage activities of the Trailer Shop to meet or exceed sales goals while managing daily operations. Meet with vendors and service providers as required. Meet or exceed established sales, profit, and growth objectives for the Trailer Shop. Acquire and retain customers by implementing sales and marketing programs and fulfill the Company’s commitment to delivering outstanding service to all customers. Schedule repair work to meet or exceed industry standards by implementing innovative and cost/effective service products and repair procedures. Eliminate work-related injuries by following approved repair procedures and safety standards.

Job Details:

  • Ensure Company policies are followed with regards to recruiting, hiring, training and disciplinary actions

  • Ensure governmental requirements and documentation are followed with regard to work procedures, training, and record-keeping on hazardous materials and safety programs

  • Maintain ongoing communication with all departments within the dealership while keeping proper documentation

  • Create trailer repair quotes

  • Complete onsite trailer repair quotes

  • Insure service work is reimbursed promptly

  • Attend Service Manager Meetings and Training Seminars as required

  • Advise the Branch Manager of desired training for subordinates and self

  • Make specific expense recommendations for tools and equipment

  • Review Company reports to ensure Trailer Shop Sales and expenses are meeting or exceeding company standards

  • Review customer work status report and communicate status to customer & Branch Manager

  • Formally review the performance of all Trailer Shop Technicians

  • Maintain strong communication and business relationship with Insurance Adjusters in regarding existing and future insurance work

  • Co-ordinate with Parts and Sales Department on Special quotes

  • Keep abreast of how and what competition is doing or not doing. (i.e. competitive rates, wages, new services, and growth)

  • Ensure the shop, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and in good conditions

  • Ensure Mechanics’ tools are in safe and good condition

Requirements:

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred

  • Strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees, and vendors

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills

  • Team leader

  • Excellent organizational skills
