Principal Financial Group Sr Business Intelligence Analyst I- Hybrid in Des Moines, Iowa
What You'll Do
We’re looking for a Sr Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team that is looking for both leadership and individual contributor opportunities.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in driving the success of our BI domain by setting the strategic direction of the BI products for the Sales Compensation BI Team, providing technical guidance, developing and mentoring team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality insights that support our Benefits & Protection business unit goals.

You'll have the opportunity to:
Lead, coach, and mentor BI analysts to achieve their professional goals and deliver optimal results
Cultivate a team passionate about collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data visualizations that deliver impactful dashboards; transform complex data into clear, actionable insights
Research, analyze, and validate data source(s) for definitive data and completeness to feed metrics associated with Benefits & Protection
Partner with stakeholders to understand business strategies and objectives, then design and implement aligned business intelligence solutions to drive and measure outcomes
Discover modernization opportunities to further leverage BI tools and methodologies to address business challenges; Staying ahead of emerging BI trends and technologies to maintain modern practices
As a member of the BI leadership team, help improve BI frameworks, processes, and standard methodologies to boost operational efficiency
Act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and insights to business stakeholders and data engineering teams to drive innovation and informed decision-making

Who You Are
Bachelor's Degree in technical or analytical field or equivalent experience
7+ years of related Business Intelligence and/or analytical experience
Experience defining and implementing new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.
Good communication skills, including the ability to influence and consult with partners at all levels
Experience using dedicated business intelligence applications and/or cloud services (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, Domo, Looker, Qlik, SAS VA), but may have also used the reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM and/or database software vendors (e.g., Oracle BI, Salesforce, SAP Business Objects, Pentaho, SSRS)
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
3+ years of PowerBI professional experience
1+ year of formal leadership or 2+ years of informal leadership experience
Experience with distribution/wholesale compensation
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$106400 - $144800 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
