Service Operations Engineer Intern Job Description

Our Team

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Sovereign Cloud team is building next-generation cloud platforms that meet the needs of US governments’ state and local, civilian, defense, and intelligence community customers. These customer segments require cloud services that are isolated from our commercial environment. We meet and exceed each customer's security and compliance requirements, such as FedRAMP High, DoD IL2/4/5/6, and ICD 503 for the community we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation of production environments, including systems and databases, supporting critical business operations.

  • Will perform administration and analysis for multiple production environments and recommend new and novel solutions to improve availability, performance, and supportability.

  • This is an opportunity to bring a combination of deep technical knowledge with administration/analysis knowledge of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure to provide escalation support to a wide range of complex production environment problems related to immense growth, scaling, leveraging the cloud, extremely high performance, and high availability requirements.

  • Install, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all production server hardware and software.

  • Provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues which may include leading problem management cases and providing management status.

  • Coordinate escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or third party vendors to resolution and coordinate a storage infrastructure of Oracle system and database appliances.

  • Responsible for Oracle production environments; assist with server operating system and application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching; and work on standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack while providing consistent system uptime as expected in a Cloud environment.

  • Provide on-call support, on a rotating basis.

Your Qualifications

  • Experience in Technical Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment; supporting and troubleshooting distributed applications, software, and operating systems; and administering and troubleshooting issues with messaging middleware and message brokers.

  • Knowledge of enterprise platforms.

  • Desire to keep up with modern technology and make recommendations.

  • Knowledge of network architecture and protocols.

  • Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language and experience with software deployment.

Responsibilities

Required Skills and Experience:

US Veteran transitioning from active service or Military Spouse new to corporate experience preferred

BS degree in STEAM discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience relevant to functional area

Additional Information:

Hourly wage is $30 per hour with NO OVERTIME and NO BENEFITS. This is a 40 hour per week position

US: Hiring Range in USD from $19.62 to $38.32 per hour; from: $40,800 to $79,700 per annum.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
