Job Title: HVAC Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure HVAC systems are operating efficiently.

  • Replace or repair defective components, such as motors, thermostats, and compressors.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.

  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and answering questions about HVAC systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including service reports and inventory management.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices.

  • Assist journeyman licensed technicians on new installation of heating and cooling units in new construction residential, multi-family, and light industrial buildings.

  • Assist with delivery, installation, and troubleshooting heating and cooling equipment.

  • Assist with power vacuuming of furnace systems, cleaning up job sites, and lifting/moving units as needed.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or HVAC certification preferred.

  • Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with a focus on residential systems.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and maintenance procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • EPA certification is ideal.

  • 6+ months of experience or familiarity with heating cooling installation, electrical, construction skilled labor, or mechanical aptitude.

  • Must be comfortable bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting 100+ lbs as needed with team members.

  • Knowledge of tools such as Impact Drill, Sawzaw, Wire Strippers, lighted level, Phillips flat screwdriver, 8 oz hammer, drywall saw, ¼ Malco bit, 4’’ bit adapter for impact drill, headlamp or flashlight, channel locks.

Work Environment

Our team-oriented environment is very busy, and once trained, will require on-call shifts every 6 weeks, with compensation for being on call. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM, with the expectation of 60+ hours per week due to new projects. Employees will be paired with a journeyman and either meet on the job site or at the shop address to start the day. The dress code includes jeans, work boots, and a work-appropriate t-shirt, which we provide. Must have basic hand tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Ankeny, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
