Office Clerk

Job Description

Purpose: The Office Clerk assists in the daily operations and maintaining records

to ensure efficient operations of the school district. To accomplish these

tasks the Office Clerk must work closely with the staff and administration

of Derby Public Schools.

Responsible to: Principal

Salary: Building Clerical Hourly Rate Schedule, Level 1

Classification of Employment: Non-Exempt

Date: July 2019

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Bookkeeping and/or secretarial experience preferred.

3. Desire to continue career improvement.

Essential Functions:

1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

a. Assist in maintaining records to ensure efficient operation of the school district.

b. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.

c. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.

d. Appropriately operate all relevant technology and equipment as required.

e. Support the value of an education.

f. Support the philosophy and mission of Derby Public Schools.

g. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.

2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.

b. Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push

heavy objects or materials.

c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend, and reach.

d. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

General Responsibilities:

1. Perform clerical duties such as:

a. Tabulate and post data

b. Answer telephone and provide information.

2. Observe district policies at all times.

3. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

4. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.

5. Other duties as assigned by the principal which are consistent with the general

requirements and qualifications of the position.

Also assist with the following:

1. Maintain computer attendance records for students.

2. Distribute student information and class rosters.

3. Maintain student weekly count (report).

4. Help supervisor in lunchroom during meals.
