Lead Painter

Job Description

Purpose: The Lead Painter maintains school buildings and grounds in

top condition to ensure full and productive use of district

facilities. To accomplish these tasks, the Lead Painter must

work closely with the staff and administration of Derby Public

Schools.

Responsible to: Maintenance Supervisor

Salary: Maintenance Hourly Rate Schedule, Level 4

Classification of Employment: Non-Exempt

Date: July 2019

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Knowledge and experience in interior and exterior painting.

3. Valid Kansas drivers license.

Essential Functions:

1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

a. Maintain school buildings in top condition to ensure full and

productive use of district facilities.

b. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.

c. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district.

d. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

e. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.

f. Maintain walls and similar structural elements in the facilities owned

or operated by the district.

g. Maintain exterior walls in proper painted condition.

h. Remove, replace and maintain interior and exterior signs.

i. Coordinate work orders with assigned personnel.

j. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.

2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

a. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

b. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or

push heavy objects or materials.

c. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and

reaching.

d. Requires climbing and balancing.

e. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.

f. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.

g. Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes and odors.

h. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

i. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

General Responsibilities:

1. Assist in maintaining school buildings in top condition.

2. Assist in promoting the safety, health and comfort of students and

employees in school buildings and grounds.

3. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all

maintenance and repair projects.

4. Perform maintenance and repair with exterior and interior of buildings and

school grounds.

5. Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings.

6. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

7. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.

8. Assist in snow removal from school building walkways and entrances.

9. Other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor, which are

consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.
