RES VP, Construction - Solar in Denver, Colorado

Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Solar, the VP, Construction is the senior manager overseeing all day-to-day project management activities of the Solar Construction business unit. This position is ultimately responsible for managing all aspects of implementing and constructing solar projects. The VP, Construction - Solar will oversee all projects and is responsible for the overall administrative and technical direction of site operations as well as planning, coordinating, and directing the entire construction effort to ensure each project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.

  • Manages and mentors project directors and project managers.

  • Maximizes resource efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensures Site safety and security.

  • Ensures proper close out of projects.

  • Implements project management system; trains PMs and ensures system is updated regularly.

  • Implements communication system to update Management regularly on the status of projects. Communicates with customers project status and diplomatically handles customer concerns.

  • Maintains all necessary training and certifications for construction staff.

  • Ensures Compliance & Policy – OSHA, State and Federal standards, and drug testing.

  • 100% Customer satisfaction.

Financial Accountability:

  • Participates in estimate reviews and approves prior to submittal to the client.

  • Regular review of project financial performance.

  • Maintains strong financial transparency in all relationships with Management.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvements in operations that will translate to bottom line results.

  • Anticipates and minimizes cost overruns.

  • Ensures client change orders are introduced and executed timely.

  • Meets or beats project budgets.

  • Increases gross profit margins on construction projects.

Business Development Support:

  • Supports business development in the proposal process to ensure a clean transition to project execution at the time of award from the customer.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

  • Participates in proposal interviews and meetings, as required.

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.

  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

  • Contract negotiation and change order management.

  • Knowledge of project execution, cost reporting, forecasting, production tracking, scheduling, and overall construction operations.

  • Communication

  • Internally with executive managers, Project Managers, Estimators, Commercial Management,Engineering, Finance, Fleet and Equipment, Legal, HSQE, Operations, Human Resources, andcross-functional departmental teams.

  • Externally with clients, potential clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Track record of building, leading, and managing construction teams.

  • Track record of directing, measuring, and reporting progress toward project goals.

  • Understanding of Project accounting and controls.

  • Risk assessment policies and procedures.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Procore.

  • Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.

  • Position requires travel to meet with clients and support projects onsite approximately 50% of themonth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or construction or equivalent relevant experience required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry related experience in operationally complex organizations required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing solar construction projects and teams to include both direct team leadership development and large operations team leadership.

  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally approximately 51%-75%.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Anticipated base salary range: $225,000 – 265,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
