Description of Job

Providing support to the Terrestrial Programs Data Team in annual tasks related to big and small game. Specifically, this position will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of “special” hunts (i.e. damage hunts, youth & novice outreach, and Turn In Poachers hunts). Also responsible for the inventory and management of mandatory reports data & samples for bears, lions, and bobcats. This position is also responsible for the entry of moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat mandatory reports data into the database and any necessary data verification. Other responsibilities include the inventory and management of moose tooth samples and data verification of special hunts. Daily hours may vary but work hours will be limited to 40 per week.

Terrestrial Data Analyst Assistants are provided opportunities to develop other skill sets including database management, coding with R, Google Suite & AppScript and to interact with other units/positions within the agency.

Specific Duties:

  • Manually enter moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat mandatory reports data into the database

  • Inventory moose, bear, and lion tooth samples

  • Communicate with Area staff regarding bear, lion, moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat

mandatory reports data and special hunts

  • Verify accuracy of mandatory reports data for bear, lion, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and moose

  • Proof hunt code information for the 2025 hunting season

  • Creation of report PDFs

  • Maintenance of Instructional/Support documents

  • Make manual adjustments to quota balances to account for voucher sales weekly

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must be able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Willingness to learn and work with limited supervision

  • Must be willing to live in or commute to Denver

  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week

  • Previous knowledge Colorado Parks and Wildlife Big Game Season Structure, data management, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studios, Tableau, and/or Google Sheets & Data Studios is preferred but not required
