Staff Accountant - Corporate Accounting

What is the role and where can you add value? This job applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Processes state sales and use taxes

  • Sets up new general ledger accounts

  • Prepares monthly accounting entries and reconciliation of general ledger accounts

  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of the fixed asset accounting system to the general ledger

  • Meets processing and reporting deadlines

  • Assists in the preparation and mailing of monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory filings

  • Prepares and makes bank deposits for various companies

  • Preparation and filing of annual property tax documentation

  • Other duties may be assigned

    What skills and experience should you bring to this role?

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a 4 year college or university

  • 2-4 years of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Team work spirit

  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word) and basic bookkeeping skills are required

  • Experience with Great Plains or similar general ledger software ideal

  • High detail orientation and problem solving skills required

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
