RES Sr Category Lead in Denver, Colorado

Summary:

The Sr. Category Lead collaborates with construction project teams, engineering, estimating, project development, legal, insurance, buyers, fleet and equipment teams, and the global, strategic procurement team, to create and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories to support successful construction projects.

Requirements:

  • Issues RFPs, performs complex bid evaluations, negotiates prices and purchase orders to include price, schedule, scope, performance guarantees, specifications, and other legal and commercial terms favorable to RES for engagements within assigned categories.

  • Analyses the Supplier market for the assigned categories, evaluates technical strength and weaknesses, prepares lead time and pricing forecast.

  • Applies category management savings strategies, including working with stakeholders on demand management reviews, internal process improvement, supplier reviews, and project lookbacks.

  • Maintains awareness of market trends, government/other conditions, and changing technologies to produce an overall strategy for senior leaders.

  • Qualifies new suppliers and reviews current supplier mix for business requirements and needs.

  • Established frame agreements with major component OEM and facilitates the Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR)

  • Collaborates with the procurement team and internal stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions and coordinate pre- and post-purchase order award activities.

  • Leads in cooperation with Engineering the technical selection of the right supplier selection.

  • Creates and facilitates processes that arrange, track, and expedite the timely delivery of services, materials, and equipment to meet site expectations. Holds self and others accountable for meeting milestones.

  • Reports status updates regularly to construction teams and other relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizes project workload and category portfolio for the fiscal year.

  • Learns and actively drives the use of the various software platforms used by Procurement, including Business World, ServiceNow, Sage, Sharepoint, Hive World, Procore, etc.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

  • Prepares and updates Leadtime and pricing tables for critical components.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

Required

  • Experience procuring critical high & medium voltage equipment & services in assigned categories.

  • Deep knowledge of the Medium & High Voltage Component Market and key players.

  • Experience in negotiating Frame Agreements and Master Terms & Conditions

  • Price negotiation experience.

  • Proven experience using data analytics and insights to drive decision-making.

  • Good at problem-solving and decision-making, including in scenarios where information is uncertain and timeframes are tight.

  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizing capabilities.

  • Good communicator (written and verbal) and able to build strong, effective relationships with team members, work colleagues, and suppliers.

  • High level of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Highly desirable

  • Category management experience.

  • Knowledge of the construction industry and associated field concepts, practices, and procedures, with knowledge of renewable industry preferred.

  • Project management experience.

  • Knowledge of Lean methodology.

  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, customer focus, business acumen, building strategic partnerships, and self-knowledge & self-learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree, or military/education/relevant work experience combination, required.

  • ISM or CIPS certification, preferred.

  • 10 or more years of experience negotiating purchase orders and subcontracts, or 10 years field construction site experience with involvement in frame agreement negotiations, implementation and related subcontractor interactions, required.

  • Ability to travel 16 to 30% domestically.

Anticipated base salary range: $122,000 - $150,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
