Intermountain Health Medical Physicist in Denver, Colorado

Job Description:

The Intermountain Health Hospital System is seeking an ABR Certified Therapy Medical Physicist for an upcoming opening in the Denver/Boulder area. The physicist will join a team of 12 physicians, 8 physicists (including you), and 7 dosimetrists that cover 3 hospitals in the Denver Metro Area – all within a 30-minute drive of each other.

Scope

  • Performs, documents, and provides documentation of calibration, maintenance, compliance testing, quality control and performance evaluations on all Radiation Oncology equipment, according to State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations to insure licensure is maintained.

  • Documentation, EMR, and QA processes are uniform across all 3 facilities, and there is rarely travel required between centers within a working day.

  • Hospitals are currently equipped with all Varian linacs including sixTrueBeams (three of them Edges) and a Novalis Tx.

  • A world class Brachytherapy Suite opened last year to support a busy HDR program that runs the gamut of treatments including interstitial prostate and gyn, tandem and ring, and vaginal cylinder and is serviced by a Bravos afterloader. Our group is looking to start an HDR skin brachytherapy program at another site later this year.

  • A robust frameless SRS program using VisionRT treats a variety of cranial diseases from brain metastasis to trigeminal neuralgia.

  • The treatment planning system is Eclipse and is complemented with the full armamentarium of software including RapidPlan, MCO, HyperArc, and Velocity. Aria v16.1 is the record and verify and the entire system is centralized and Citrix-based. Eclipse is supported by software from Radformation including ClearCheck, ClearCalc, Monte Carlo, EZ Fluence, AutoContour, and RadMachine.

  • Tools for QA include a full suite of Sun Nuclear detector arrays, Varian Portal Dosimetry, and two PTW Beamscans.

  • More than the sum of our fun technology, we are a patient-centered physics group interested in leading our patient safety program, and informing process improvement with incident reporting.

  • Collaborates, advises, performs, and supervises treatment planning and dosimetry. Verifies all prescription calculations and notifies physician of any discrepancies.

  • Reviews, changes, and writes policy and procedures periodically and formally review on a yearly basis. Observes established policies and procedures regarding department and hospital guidelines, quality control, radiation safety, environmental and infection control.

Qualifications

  • MS, PhD, or DMP, required.

  • Board eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, required.

  • 2+ years of clinical experience (including residency), required.

  • Eligible to be on a radioactive material license for HDR Brachytherapy, required.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a clinical Medical Physicist with thorough special procedure background, preferred.

  • Experience with the hardware and software listed above, preferred.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$70.31 - $128.93
