Job Title: Case Manager Intern

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exemptReports to: Program Manager

Rate of Pay:$18.29 hourly

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)

  • Vacation benefit – 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)

  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) with at least 21 hours worked per week.

Function: Support individuals who are guests of Crossroads Resource Center by helping them become permanently housed. Core activities will include ongoing case management services for participating guests which includes assessment, identifying and addressing barriers, referrals to appropriate Salvation Army and community resources, and database recording of all activities. The case manager will also liaise with landlords, and permanent supportive housing agencies in the Denver Metro community on behalf of participating guests. The case manager will use the Resource Center service hours to recruit and initiate supportive relationships with homeless guests who are not connected to services or have not established a personal housing plan. Some weekend work hours may be required.

  • Demonstrate ability to provide professional and effective programming/case management to individuals who are experiencing homelessness

  • Ability to complete timely and detailed documentation (including assessments)

  • Ability to use professional discretion to determine appropriate interventions

  • Desire to serve others by building on their strengths and building trust with participants

  • Strong skills in customer service

  • Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment

  • Bi-lingual (preferred)

  • Complete assigned trainings by the Salvation Army

Experience, Skills, Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army

  • Able to conceptualize, teach and model case management skills, including motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.

  • Desire to serve others by building on their strengths

  • Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment

Education

  • High school diploma or G.E.D required. Work experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities preferred.

  • Bachelors degree in human services, social work, public health or comparable field required

Driving

  • If the position requires driving:

  • A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required.

  • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Background Check

  • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate telephone.

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
