Assistant Vice President, Claims Analytics Data Engineer - Health Commercial Analytics As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by supporting our health solutions practice in developing and delivering innovative and effective solutions based on Data & Analytics preferably in our Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, or Denver, CO office locations but with flexibility to other Aon offices in the US as well. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, or Denver, CO office locations. While there is a preference for someone in the above listed offices, the team may consider a virtual arrangement. What the day will look like This position supports the flow of high quality and large quantity data into Commercial Analytics data science models, solutions, and analytics. You will be challenged to manage the complexities of health data on a cloud-first and automation focused footing. Commercial Analytics has a small but growing team of data engineers with many opportunities to make an impact.

This role involves

Joining a dynamic team with diverse backgrounds including consultants, actuaries, data scientists, engineers, health analytics experts, and solution architects Excellent growth, mobility, flexibility, and advancement opportunities Seizing opportunities to scale and automate Developing practice-wide data strategy and architecture Designing processes to deliver data required for new solutions Collaborating with Aon Business Services and colleagues across different time zones Contribute to the design of our data lake and the development of all data assets and downstream warehouses/marts Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines from raw data ingestion through final data consumption by diverse applications Develop and integrate an automated data validation and quality control mechanisms throughout pipelines Discover and develop opportunities for automation to minimize the need for manual intervention and streamline processing Assist in data security, permission management and de-identification processing Maintain up-to-date technical and operational documentation Collaborate with a team of actuaries, data scientists, developers and business experts to build flexible and scalable data management and delivery tools to support Aon's data, analytics and reporting capabilities Adhere to design philosophy emphasizing agile to meet complex and highly dynamic business needs How this opportunity is different A competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization. Skills and experience that will lead to success 7+ years of experience in a ETL/ELT or data engineering capacity, ideally in medical, pharmacy, benefits and insurance claim domains Strong health data experience in individual level claims and enrollment data from health carriers, data warehouses, and non-traditional health service vendors Strong familiarity with HIPAA and related industry standards and practices Cloud-first experience with modern data engineering tools such as Apache Spark, python, dbt, Databricks, and Snowflake Experience constructing automated and maintainable data pipelines ingesting large tabular datasets (insurance claims, medical, pharmacy, eligibility and human capital data) into a data lake and populating a structured warehouse Knowledge of data security and privacy practices and regulations, including data access controls and de-identification and protection of sensitive data Demonstrable ability to convey technical info mation successfully to a wide variety of stakeholders Demonstrable ability to pick up new technologies and solutions Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks/Apache Spark, Redshift, technologies Nice to have Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) Knowledge of Agile Scrum and Continuous Delivery practices Familiarity with benefits or health administrative data including procedure coding, diagnostic coding, financial fields, etc. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) Education

BS or MS degree in Health Informatics, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent Pay Transparency The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 to $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
