Delaware County Building Maintenance Mechanic II in Delhi, New York
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the performance of a variety of skilled building maintenance and repair tasks. Incumbents of this class, because of individual skill, training or experience, generally devote a greater part of their time to a particular specialized field, but are required to work in various mechanical fields as the occasion demands. The work is performed under general supervision with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. May coordinate and oversee the work of subordinate maintenance and cleaning personnel. Does related work as required.<p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER: <li>A. (1) Five years of experience in building maintenance or (2) in one or more of the mechanical or construction trades; OR <li>B. (1) Graduation from a college or technical institute with an Associate's Degree in construction technology or related field and (2) 3 years of experience as described in (A) above; OR <li<C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in (A) and (B) above.<p> NOTE: A valid New York State driver=s license is required at time of appointment and maintained during employment. <p> NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. You must pay the required evaluation fee.<p> SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS: In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
