Stetson University Associate Director of Infrastructure Services and Chief Information Security Officer AS9643 in DeLand, Florida

The Associate Director of Infrastructure Services and Chief Information Security Officer is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and effective operation of all aspects of the security and technology infrastructure university-wide. The Associate Director is primarily responsible for the overall coordination of all campuses' security policies, the university’s cloud-based infrastructure, computer labs, network and server administration (both physical and cloud-based), and Telecommunications. The Associate Director plans, organizes, and manages the overall activities of the staff to provide superior internal customer service; as well as reviews, plans, and evaluates past, present, and future technological services and needs on campus and should have a vision for future needs that informs current purchases. Hire date will be no sooner than 7/1/2025.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Shape and implement Stetson's cybersecurity strategy

  • Oversee the protection of Stetson’s sensitive data

  • Manage risks and ensure compliance with regulations

  • Encourage a culture of safety awareness within the company

  • Provide leadership and oversight for information security standards and procedures

  • Assess and audit computer networks for weak points, implement solutions, and develop response protocols for cyber-attacks

  • Supervise network (including residential) and server administration areas and ensure they operate in an efficient and acceptable manner

  • Assist in all areas of infrastructure operations, including training, equipment maintenance, purchases, and customer complaints

  • Create and maintain appropriate information security policies

  • Monitor and enforce information security policies

  • Assist the Senior Vice President for Information Technology/CIO and the Executive Director of Infrastructure in the planning and implementation of operational strategic plans and budgets

  • Assist with the design, implementation, and support of the campus video conference and video distribution system

  • Assist in the administration of all Windows servers and the cloud environment

  • Assist in the support of the University network equipment, including the wireless network

  • Assist in Disaster Recovery planning and management

  • Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Required Skills

  • Knowledge in managing, deploying, and integrating a diverse platform consisting of: OS (Microsoft, UNIX, MAC OS) and Cisco network infrastructure is preferred

  • Must be able to demonstrate a proven record of excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills

  • In addition to technical skills, excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required

Required Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in high-level cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and the administration of information, including Internet technologies, information security, and server administration

  • Any combination of acceptable education and experience that has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position may be considered

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • CISSP or similar security certification

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students

  • High energy level, enjoys challenges and a fast-paced environment; displays self-initiative and motivation

    Work Environment: Requires some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, frequent light lifting (10 - 15 pounds); and manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of productive operations. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard and PC monitor. Perceptual demands for sound, form, texture, and depth.
