Job Description

Title: Data Governance Unstructured Data Administrator

Location: Deerfield, IL

Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension. FTE conversion is highly likely and desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating a process and administrative tasks for Teams, SharePoint, and file shares (servers, C drive, E drive, D drive, etc.)

  • Develop a process for requesting new sites/platforms and tracking/administering current (owners, content, etc.)

  • Policies/procedures relating to data governance

  • They will be the primary/ONLY person on the Data Governance team; largely administrative role

  • Not a high level of skill

  • Not a lot of analytics

  • Tracking the process

  • Quarterly or semi-annual audit process to make sure site content is being kept up to date, ensure Teams site is still needed

  • Work directly with IT to administer the platform and be in contact with file share or site owners

  • Need to be familiar with Teams, SharePoint, and file server platforms

  • Will not administer sites

  • Know reporting metrics that are possible (previous/last usage, people accessing/active on sites, site ownership)

Experience

  • Collibra is highly preferred; any experience with a data catalog will be fine

  • Industry is not important

  • Want this to be an FTE conversion

  • No one on the team is onsite

Position Summary

The Data Governance Unstructured Data Administrator is accountable for facilitating policies, guidance, and tracking of “unstructured” data and data stores, i.e. those that are not directly assignable to applications and systems, e.g. MS Teams Sites, most Share Point sites, and various file sharing repositories. This role must be fluent in data concepts & principles, data governance, and data quality. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cataloging existing data assets and working with business partners and IT to create and instill best practices for data lifecycle management while moving or purging data from locations that are not adhering to the defined target state.

This role will be a part of the Data Governance organization reporting to the Associate Director of Data Governance, but must closely partner with IT platform owners and the Business data owners to execute a comprehensive data strategy.

This individual will be expected to help foster a data driven culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

a) Lead the creation and execution of the end-to-end data lifecycle strategy for identified data storage platforms, including but not limited to:

o Identification and documentation of existing data storage platforms, their current use, and owners.

o Author, obtain approval, and disseminate acceptable use and lifecycle management policies and guidance.

o Collaborate on and execute a plan to migrate all existing data stores that are not directly attributable to an application/system to align with policies & guidelines.

b) Create a catalog of all existing data storage locations/platforms that fall under this category of data, including ownership, purpose, and content.

c) Collaborate with IT on acceptable platform use and data storage technology plans and strategy.

d) Collaborate with the Sailpoint team and any other relevant security group on access, ownership, and audit processes to ensure policy adherence and ever-green ownership records.

e) Identify, educate, and develop key data contacts among the business community and facilitate ongoing engagement necessary to achieve Data Governance objectives and meet business community needs.

• Ability to deliver training and mentoring for key business data contacts.

• Strong organizational/project management skills, process-oriented and great attention to detail.

• Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize or escalate if prioritization assistance is needed.

• Empathy, curiosity, and desire to constantly improve, acquire new skills and drive for results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with global or regional stakeholders.

• Direct experience with Data Governance tools, preferably Collibra, and execution.

• Industry experience in MedTech preferred.

• Knowledge of data related industry regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.

• Demonstrate experience of leadership within a team.

• English fluency.
