Manager, Sales & Use Tax – Corporate Tax – Decatur, IL

This is a full-time exempt level position.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated manager to join our corporate tax department. This position will report to the Director, Indirect & Property Tax North America. The candidate will be a vital part of our indirect tax team with duties that cover all facets of indirect taxes. Primary duty examples include directly/proactively oversee U.S. sales/use tax compliance (e.g., tax balance sheet GL’s/monitoring/recons, tax rates, internal tax guidance documents, licensing/registrations, master/golden record oversight/maintenance, tax gbs/shared services liaison, tax return solutioning, etc..). Additional duties include oversee/work with tax management regarding all facets of audit defense, reverse audits, indirect tax research, M&A and special projects, procurement and sales taxability analysis, credits and incentives, vendor and customer exemptions, tax liability reviews, IBM, Maximo, JDE, Oracle, Mapics, Sage, Agris, Coupa, Vertex, SAP, other bolt-on applications, etc..

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting or Business

  • Minimum 7-10 years with ADM finance, project management, and/or other functions, public accounting, or tax consulting firm.

  • ADM in-depth systems knowledge, financial controlling and analysis, communication, developing and defending tax positions, etc.

  • CPA, Master’s Degree, MBA, or JD a plus.

  • Information Technology experience (e.g., SAP, Vertex, JDE, Coupa).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage indirect tax returns, oversight of tax accruals, recons, and related records.

  • Research and communicate complex tax topics and issues.

  • Research and analyze taxing jurisdiction notices regarding liabilities, credits, and licensing.

  • Analyze indirect tax data within various systems (e.g., JDE, IBM, Maximo, Vertex, Coupa, etc...).

  • Provide audit defense including research and retrieving records.

  • Assist with indirect tax special projects (e.g., refunds, credits, incentives, spend analysis, etc...).

  • Analyze, maintain, and communicate internal tax guidance.

  • Assist with JDE/Vertex indirect tax compliance functions and 1ADM.
