In this position...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced expert within our EEHW (Electronics, Electrical, Hardware) organization to be our Automotive Technical Specialist for Enclosure Subsystems. You will be a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring the robust design, validation, and performance of enclosure electronic modules, with a particular focus on systems such as door locking/unlocking, tailgate mechanisms, frunk operation, and other mechanical and electronic interfaces. You will leverage your expertise in both mechanical and electronic design evaluations to drive best practices and optimize system performance.

What you'll do...

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Ford enclosure electronic module assembly design, validation, and manufacturing requirements, ensuring best practices are applied across all electronic module designs, focusing on the unique challenges and considerations of enclosure systems. This includes expertise in locking/unlocking systems, tailgate mechanisms, frunk operation, and door openings.

  • Ensure requirements are properly cascaded in FEDE.

  • Establish robust electrical, architectural, and mechanical interfaces and interface requirements to maximize system robustness and reliability, considering the system complexities of various enclosure mechanism.

  • Lead collaboration with internal Ford component, system, and feature teams to define a robust engineering process that ensures proper function, configuration, and validation testing is occurring at both the module and system levels, considering the integrated electro-mechanical nature of enclosure systems.

  • Lead technical reviews with suppliers to ensure compliance with design requirements, including CAE and physical testing results conformance check-lists, encompassing a deep understanding of mechanical and electronic aspects of enclosure systems.

  • Thoroughly document failure modes and provide feedback to improve design requirements, with an emphasis on addressing issues specific to enclosure functionalities.

  • Execute the enclosure systems signoff at programs milestones with data-driven audits, including collaboration with STA for on-site reviews at supplier and Ford VO assembly plants.

  • Troubleshoot features and address customer concerns related to the expected behavior of enclosure systems.

  • Audit physical and CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) test data with suppliers to validate design integrity.

  • Lead Quality process for enclosure systems, ensuring Ford and industry lessons learned are documented in the associated quality history, failure mode analyses and deliverables are up to date.

  • Lead the creation and conduct of training, seminars, and mentoring to support Ford design and release community and supplier technical assistance teams.

You'll have...

BS engineering degree.

10 or more years of direct experience with automotive electronic validation and design, with a strong focus on enclosure systems.

Even better, you may have...

MS engineering degree.

Proven and recognized leader in Electronic Module Design with a focus on Design Verification, particularly in the context of mechanical and electronic integration within enclosure systems.

Strong supplier relationship skills to coach and lead module core engineers and suppliers as required, with an emphasis on addressing the unique challenges of enclosure system components.

This position is a range of salary grades LL6 .
