W.W. Williams Sales Engineer, Sustainable Power Solutions in Dearborn, Michigan

*Regional Sales Engineer, Sustainable Power Systems: *The purpose of this role is to identify, support, and develop sales opportunities for Continuous Power Generation, Power Conditioning, and Microgrid Systems. This includes, but is not limited to, continuous-duty natural gas-powered generators, battery energy storage systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems such as Kinetic Power Packs (DRUPS), microgrid controllers, and switchgear. These solutions are applicable in commercial and industrial applications such as critical manufacturing, hospitality, multi-family dwellings, agriculture, waste management, among others.

Job Duties:

  • Build relationships with various business partners and suppliers and comprehensively learn their sustainable product offerings.
  • Prospect for new customers and generate sales leads via all available sources including but not limited to existing contact lists, references from WW Williams sales personnel, supplier references, trade journals, trade shows and conferences, project listing publications, general and electrical contractors, and engineering lunch-and-learns.
  • Call on customers, investigate their various needs and offer solutions via the products and services we offer.
  • Attend relevant trade shows and conferences to represent and promote Williams and Williams solutions including Williams' services and Williams' OEM products.
  • Promote all sustainable product offerings in the US
  • Work closely with ESS Department in seeking project management and engineering assistance.
  • Learn and utilize OEM order entry and quoting system.
  • Help generate and review customer submittals.
  • Work with and call on Engineering firms, General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, End Users and energy supply companies. Also become familiar with and quote products from providers of ancillary equipment such as ATS units, MTS units, other switchgear, control systems, fuel blending systems, aftertreatment emission control systems, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Coordinate lead generation and sales assistance with other sales reps and managers.
  • Attend and participate in business partner training and project update meetings.
  • Utilize Sales Force as a contact management system.
  • Provide updates and regular reports as required for Supervisor and Executive Management team.
  • Follow all company pricing guidelines.
  • Close sales and seek assistance from executive management when needed.
  • Ensure that closed projects are proceeding toward finalization in a manner that meets Williams' commitments.
  • Perform postmortem project evaluations on as needed basis.

Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • BS degree, preferable in Engineering or Business with technical acumen.
  • Technical - Preferred understanding of power generation equipment and systems with knowledge of microgrids and co-generation systems preferred. Knowledge of power gen applications is necessary.
  • Sales experience of industrial equipment, preferably in the power generation industry.
  • Relationships - prior experience with major engineering firms, gas companies, and OEMs of engines, generators and genset packagers is very advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
