Job Title: Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer
Job Description
This position requires the evaluation, assessment, testing, and optimization of vehicle attributes. Responsibilities include modifying vehicle and powertrain calibrations to meet various attributes such as emissions, drivability, performance, diagnostics, fuel economy, and NVH in both vehicles and engine dynamometer test cells. Specialization areas may include Engine combustion setpoints, SCR Aftertreatment operation, DPF Regen Mode operation and temperature control, CAN communications, and diagnostics calibration based on robust statistical metrics. The role involves performing data analysis, regressing model calibrations with large data sets, communicating conclusions, interfacing with software algorithm suppliers for evaluating new features, and documenting progress and methods used in calibration and validation. The position also entails using models and simulation to reduce testing and optimize powertrain calibrations and may require travel to remote development locations for vehicle testing.
Hard Skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent data analysis capabilities including statistical knowledge
Proficient with Matlab and Calibration Tools including ETAS and/or ATI
Understanding of Emission Regulatory requirements including OBD
Ability to read and understand powertrain control strategies (C-code & model-based)
CAE experience with modeling/simulation to calibrate and optimize engine control features
Comprehensive knowledge of internal combustion engines and effective engine and vehicle test methods
Soft Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player who excels in a collaborative and cross-functional environment
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
