We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Release Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead the design, sourcing, release, validation, and verification of labels for automotive parts. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, supporting manufacturing plant implementations, and ensuring that all components meet traceability requirements.
Responsibilities
Identify target parts and lead design, sourcing, release, validation, and verification of labels.
Support the design, release, and implementation of component labels.
Facilitate traceability information of parts tied to the VIN of vehicles assembled at our client's plant.
Lead discussions with suppliers to specify needed label updates, request quotes, and manage change control processes.
Communicate label descriptions and requirements to support manufacturing plant scanning implementations.
Support scanning equipment maintenance by reviewing current scanner status across all North American plants.
Determine if existing scanners can be used and identify where new scanners are needed.
Identify, source, and acquire new scanning equipment required to support traceability information for designated components.
Act as a single point of contact for plant-based personnel to ensure preparations for installing new equipment and setting up data acquisition systems are on schedule.
Develop and execute plans for validation and verification of installed equipment performance.
Manage and update manufacturing-specific documents that call out special characteristics for parts, including scanning and storing traceability information.
Maintain weekly correspondence with Manufacturing Engineer counterparts to track Change Request (CR) progress and assist in approvals when needed.
Create a work plan to ensure that all key milestones are met and manage the overall program timing.
Lead price and investment quotations for all component, module, and engineering changes.
Develop and provide open issues management reporting of design changes, risks, opportunities, and open issues for components.
Develop and manage the master program Bill of Materials (BOM) within client tools.
Essential Skills
5 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer for any automotive parts/systems.
Full program product development experience.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Strong communication skills.
Experience with Team Center, data management, and traceability methodology.
Knowledge of scanning and data acquisition equipment functionality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Catia, labels, Teamcenter, and WERS.
Previous experience with Ford is preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $45.00/hr.
