Ford Motor Company ADAS Integration D&R Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

Use your technical expertise to make driving safer, easier and better for our customers. The Advance Driver Assistance Technology (ADAS) team develops state-of-the-art software and algorithms to deliver best-in-class features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 360 camera systems. ADAS also developed Ford's industry-first Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, securing over 60 patents in the process. The team is responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of these features into production on all Ford vehicle lines.

What you'll do…

  • Apply Global Product Development System process.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes of issues, and develop corrective actions to optimize processes and achieve desired outcomes.

  • System definition and program set-up (including Bill of Material, Work planning, etc.)

  • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets.

  • Ensure components are properly packaged for each vehicle application.

  • Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (CPA, Quality History, P-Diagram, FMEA, etc.)

  • Apply six sigma and 8D issue resolution processes

  • Conduct Design Validation at the breadboard and in vehicle.

  • Sign off on Compliance Demonstration Plan and Report

  • Support the Sourcing Process (investment, piece price and tooling cost reviews). Preparation of initial and final sourcing documents

  • Follow the Technical Design Review process

  • Ensure Programs deliverables are met on time and with the highest quality. This includes the following: FEDEBOM, Teamcenter, Global Integrator, Packaging/Digital Buck, DPA Checks, WERS, eFDVS, Subsystem/Supplier work plans, DVP&R, Engineering Sign-off, etc.

  • Release parts through the product life cycle. Support Change Control meetings

  • Audit and update Bill of Material with correct part levels and usage, for all builds and post Job 1.

  • Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly

  • Identify validation, durability and functional test required

  • Define and verify engineering prototype requirements at part level.

  • Parts implementation/sign-off in assembly plant & assistance with quality issues in all milestones. Review/manage program direction letter revisions and proceed accordingly if affected

  • Support prototype and vehicle launches.

  • Give technical assistance to supplier through the Supplier Engagement Process

You'll have…

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Controls, Electrical or Software Engineering

  • Strong understanding and application of engineering disciplines (engineering specifications, design validation, failure mode analysis, 8D, six sigma, etc.)

Even better, you may have…

  • MS Engineering or advanced degree

  • Highly motivated, extremely proactive, substantial attention to detail

  • Ability to quickly learn the job (with mentoring from others)

  • Willing to new learn electronics key concepts.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate and interact with others, both oral and written

  • Ability to interface with many activities and champion issue resolution.

  • Experience in safety systems

  • Experience in Ansys SPEOS

  • CAD packaging experience and/or experience in CATIA and Team Center

  • Operational knowledge of desktop productivity and CAD software

  • Thorough understanding of vehicle electrical systems and electrical design/development process.

  • Understanding of production processes

  • Understanding/experience with the design & development of automotive electrical features

  • Familiar with CAN networking tools, diagnostic protocols, and trouble shooting

  • Excellent team skills

This position is a range of salary grades GSR 6-8.
