Summary: We are proud to announce the establishment of a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory, set amidst the beautiful Kansas City Metro. This groundbreaking green-field factory will serve as a pioneering hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.

Position Summary: Skilled Machine Technician – Level 2 (SMT – 2) is responsible for operating automated high-speed lithium-ion battery production machines in controlled clean-room environments. Responsibilities include machine maintenance, ensuring the cleanliness of work areas, and facilitating the safe and efficient production of high-quality batteries. Additionally, SMT-2 performs basic equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • Initiate, operate, recover, and shut down machines

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine errors following specified escalation procedures.

  • Utilize hand tools and precision measuring instruments to perform basic maintenance and uphold quality control standards.

  • Independently operate multiple production machineswith minimal oversight.

  • Maintain a clean and secure work area following the "6S" principles (Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of department workflows and processes

  • Ensure prompt materials, supplies, and spare parts are delivered to the production floor as needed.

  • Conduct intermediate preventative maintenance procedures, including spare part changes, bearing inspections, and spindle and jig adjustments. Continuously monitor processes and perform visual quality checks to uphold compliance with acceptance standards.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with and implementing work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise through direct peer-to-peer training.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands and the PPE requirements of the role

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.

  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area

  • Ability to work all scheduled shift hours

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is mandatory including equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.Pre-employment respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications : Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education

  • Required : High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or 2 years of prior experience in functional area

MUST-HAVES:

  • 18 monthsof prior experience in functional area

  • Proficient in the English language, encompassing adeptness in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing/production environment.

NICE-TO-HAVES:

:

  • Successful completion of Standard Work and Job Instruction training.

  • 2+ years of prior experience in functional area

  • An understanding of Kaizen and active participation in Standard Work Improvement activities.

  • A fundamental comprehension of the Microsoft Office suite and adeptness in computer operations.

  • Experienceutilizing hand tools, following technical instructions, and conducting quality control procedures
