ARS is seeking a Science & Technology (S&T) Protection Specialist to safeguard critical technological innovations within our defense innovation programs. This role will develop and implement comprehensive protection strategies for sensitive technologies, ensuring appropriate security measures while enabling effective collaboration and transition to operational use. The ideal candidate will combine security expertise with technical understanding to identify vulnerabilities and implement practical protection measures. Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement S&T Protection Plans for sensitive technologies and programs
Identify and validate security requirements for emerging technologies and innovation initiatives
Provide guidance to ensure appropriate protection of technologies and related information at various classification levels
Conduct program, project, and technology area security risk assessments
Develop risk mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities
Provide security oversight for all aspects of technology control and protection planning
Support certification and accreditation documentation development
Serve as a technical security advisor to internal and external entities on protection architecture
Assist in identifying Critical Program Information (CPI) and implementing appropriate safeguards
Evaluate the impact of foreign intelligence collection threats on technology programs
Develop and deliver security awareness training related to technology protection
Review program documentation for potential security concerns
Collaborate with program managers to balance security requirements with operational objectives
Stay current on emerging threats and security methodologies relevant to technology protection
Support the development of technology transition plans that maintain appropriate protections
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
Must be a US citizen
Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
5+ years of experience in technology security, information protection, or related fields
Knowledge of DoD security classifications and handling requirements
Experience with risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies
Understanding of foreign intelligence collection methods and countermeasures
Familiarity with federal regulations governing protection of sensitive technologies
Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate complex security challenges
Excellent communication skills to convey security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Experience developing security documentation and protection plans
Ability to balance security requirements with program objectives
Current SECRET security clearance with ability to obtain/maintain higher clearances if required
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in Security Management, Technology Protection, or related field
Experience with defense acquisition programs or technology development processes
Background in counterintelligence or technology protection
Knowledge of export control regulations (ITAR, EAR)
Certification in security disciplines (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CMMC)
Experience with Operations Security (OPSEC) planning
Background in cyber security or information system security
Understanding of supply chain risk management
Experience with sensitive compartmented information (SCI) protection
Knowledge of international technology transfer security considerations
