Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant –Technical Accounting is an integral part of the Chief Accounting Officer’s organization, based in Davidson, North Carolina, and reports directly to the Manager, Technical Accounting, Reporting Policy. This role serves a critical role and will have significant interface with our corporate functions, business unit leaders, as well as the external auditors. The Senior Accountant – Technical Accounting is responsible for supporting the businesses on accounting inquiries, reaching conclusions on complex accounting issues, supporting acquisitions and other strategic transactions, as well as development and updating of corporate accounting policies and procedures relating to a wide variety of accounting issues.
This role has been designated as hybrid.
Responsibilities:
The individual is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Work with business units to resolve accounting issues as they arise
Research complex accounting transactions and prepare position papers on conclusions
Provide guidance on and assist with keeping current on all Trane Technologies’ internal financial policies
Assist in preparation and presentation of accounting trainings
Review quarterly ASC 606 revenue controls to ensure proper revenue recognition
Assist in preparation of audit committee material
Assist with the preparation and review of annual report on Form 10-K, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, current reports on Form 8-K and any other financial filings as required by the SEC
Work with external auditors to address accounting issues and assist in the review and audit of SEC filings and the annual report
Remain current and proactive on new accounting and reporting guidance affecting the company in order to interpret and assess potential financial impacts and implement new accounting standards
Drive ongoing process improvement between the business units, FP&A, Investor Relations, and the Financial Reporting (Consolidations & External Reporting) departments
In addition, the individual will be a key contributor in the following:
Impairment testing of goodwill and indefinite lived intangible assets
Accounting for acquisitions, including determination and allocation of purchase price
Accounting and reporting for divestitures
Collaboration with Treasury on derivatives and hedging
The overall objective of this job is to monitor and ensure that the company’s financial statements, disclosures and policies are in accordance with GAAP, while proactively understanding the effect of future pronouncements on the business units and enterprise as a whole.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm, or similar roles in a Fortune 1000 company in a Technical Accounting and/or SEC reporting capacity
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required
MBA or Master of Accounting preferred
CPA or actively working towards CPA required
Experience with SEC rules and U.S. GAAP required
Base Compensation Range is $94,500-119,500. Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
