BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The associate scrum master is an agile practitioner who will help to guide the end-to-end team/program delivery and assist the team in improving day-to-day ways of working. This role should be passionate about working with agile team members to foster an environment where the team can practice the agile mindset and self-manage the work to deliver great products and business outcomes. This role will need to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with a wide range of people, experience levels, and backgrounds. The scrum master will establish common objectives and a shared mindset, provide agile leadership, facilitation, and hands-on guidance to enable the team and organization to achieve success.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and facilitates product delivery activities and agile events such as Discovery, Sprint Planning, Daily-Standup, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.

  • Works collaboratively with developers, Products Owners, release train leaders, and management to effectively facilitate the removal of impediments to the agile team’s progress.

  • Leads the efforts of improving Lean agile methodologies, engineering and management best practices, team policies, metric, and audit practices for an Agile, iterative, end-to-end value creation lifecycle, from concepts, executable architecture, iterative design, to delivery, deployment, production, and maintenance.

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement amongst assigned scrum team and the organization.

  • Works collaboratively with other Scrum Masters and release train leadership to coordinate and support the activities in preparing for each Program Increment.

  • Listens, empathizes, understands others, and helps clarify their voice, with an eye to fostering positive relationship across individuals and teams?.

  • Effectively guides discussions and engages in conflict resolution when necessary.

  • Works collaboratively with the Product Owner and the team to determine manageable scope based on team capabilities and delivery metrics. Communicates and sets expectations with stakeholders and the project sponsor.

  • Facilitates the use of visual work management and metrics with the team to monitor work progress and identify potential issues or delays in the completion of work. Coordinates with other scrum teams and management to escalate problems and delivery impediments encountered on/amongst scrum teams as necessary.

  • Serves as both an example and a champion for Agile values and principles.

  • Keeps informed and educated about industry trends concerning Agile methodologies.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of vision and fulfillment of MSC's mission.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience is required

  • Interest in driving cross-functional teams to execute eCommerce plans that impact sales growth required.

  • Demonstrated agile mindsets and behaviors.

    SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of agile methodologies and ceremonies

  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and have sound business acumen demonstrated through analytical thinking to assess process performance and financial viability.

  • Experience with ISO certified processes and audits, Secure Lifecycle Development, and/or development of products for use in a SIL environment required.

  • Must possess excellent communication, writing and process and analytical skills, as well as organizational skills required.

  • Ability to facilitate, visualize, and apply an understanding of industry terminology, process flow and structure to problem solving and communications required.

  • Must be able to work well under pressure and have a strong understanding of the products and businesses being supported by the team with a strong client focus required.

  • Must possess a can-do, winning attitude; the highest level of integrity; and the ability to inspire confidence with an open, trustworthy, and engaging style required.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with external partners as well as internal stakeholders required.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time are required.

  • Ability to occasionally support release implementations outside of regular daytime working hours.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).
