Cumberland Paving and Contracting is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Cumberland Paving and Contracting provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate-based materials, highway operations, and maintenance services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience in pipe installation, drainage or other related activities

  • Lead Hand /supervisory experience with strong leadership skills

  • Available to work extended hours and weekends, when required

  • Class 5 Driving License and own transportation to and from work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Successful completion of compliance-based courses (Excavation and Trenching, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Etc.)

Day In The Life

As a Lead Hand, your primary responsibility is to work closely with your crew to ensure they safely and efficiently complete daily tasks set out by the foreman. You’ll usually be replacing catch basins, installing new lead pipes, driveway and cross culverts, and other types of pipe work. Additionally your crew will assist in prepping operations such as curb removals and grade work. Attention to detail will be imperative in this role to ensure all products are of the highest quality standard and meet all specifications.
