Geisinger Clinical Transformation Educator, Geisinger Health Plan (work from home Pennsylvania resident) in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Assesses, designs, develops and delivers training programs to bridge the education/documentation gap for all related lines of business. Acts as a subject matter expert and educator to Physician leadership, Administrative, Internal coding, Provider Network Management, Population Health and Operational teams for the sole objective of accurate and complete documentation and coding, strategic growth initiatives, and compliance improvement initiatives. Supports all collaborative education and documentation initiatives for multiple hospitals and providers.

Job Duties

  • Develops, maintains, and provides education on all aspects of quality documentation and coding as it pertains to clinical, administrative, and support teams.

  • Drives the strategy and vision of quality documentation and clinical transformation.

  • Determines data and strategic reporting needs by communicating with clinicians, administrators and analysts.

  • Prepares reports, presentations, maps and graphs, reflecting the collaboration of external and internal parties, summary and translation of data into actionable information.

  • Delivers presentations to clinicians and administrators.

  • Collaborates with provider sites to define solutions to needs or problem areas and determines scope of investigation required to obtain solution.

  • Works with all the Health Plan Network physicians, managers and clinical department staff to identify areas that would benefit from tools or other system functionality to maximize physician time and efficiency.

  • Identifies clinical departments that would benefit from documentation and coding education sessions by using analytical reports.

  • Analyzes key indicators of quality documentation.

  • Prepares presentations reflecting synthesis, summary and translation of data into actionable information.

  • Provides coding support to develop meaningful education strategies and detailed translation.

  • Assists in developing, preparing, and delivering process flow documentation for all applications that end users are trained in, including but not limited to: claims processing system, coder tools, departmental collaboration and staff work flow.

  • Identifies on-line or outside experts for inclusion in the training series to bring about consistent information and procedure training across all disciplines.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of new coder training material.

  • Trains new employees while ensuring ongoing education with current staff of the health plan.

  • Provides consultative support to clinical areas and recommends operational strategies to achieve accurate documentation and coding processes.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. *Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).

Position Details

Minimum certifications required:Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC)

and

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)

Experience

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association; Certified Risk Adjustment Coder - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC); Certified Professional Coder - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
